Bio..

I decided to write this Blog to share information and talk about current events. I hope that you will find this Blog useful. There is nothing worse than reading a bunch of stuff that doesn’t make sense to anyone except the writer.  It’s not to say that it might not happen to me, as not everyone enjoys bookkeeping, taxes and payroll as much as I do.  I might sound like a babbling fool to some who don’t like the topic, but for those who are interested or in need of information, I hope I can teach or inform you of something.

Just to tell you a little bit about myself, I have been working in accounting since I was 16. I lied about my age and landed my first job at an insurance agency downtown Chicago.  It was a good job, but I wasn’t satisfied.  I wanted to learn everything and anything I could. As soon as I learned what I needed, it was time to move on.

Through the years, I have had fantastic jobs and not so fantastic.  Some jobs sent me running within six-months. I could tell you some stories about people, but we won’t go there.

I got a job as a Quality Control (QC) inspector at a plating company in 1987, it was there that I was introduced into the payroll world. They were using ADP at the time. I absolutely loved it. I did both the payroll and the QC work. After that I began looking only for Payroll and Accounting jobs.  Those were the only things I wanted to learn more about.

As the years went by, I would take a new job that had no one to train me. I was just thrown into the fire and had to learn the software, and figure things out on my own.  I learned to become more efficient and cost effective. That would often get me raises and more responsibility. They took advantage of me, and in the end, I would look for another job.

My best experiences were to come. I moved to Florida and began to hone my accounting and payroll skills, I took every seminar I could get my hands on. It was there that I discovered the certification for payroll (CPP) Certified Payroll Professional. In 1999 I passed the test and earned my CPP.  I was ecstatic! I was eventually promoted to a Human Resources Manager at a technology company.  A tragedy struck, and moved from Florida back to Illinois. I was devastated, the job I finally came to love, I had to leave.

After returning to Illinois I pursued mostly payroll and accounting positions. I had great experiences and jobs.  After the birth of my son in 2009, I decided to take a break for a few years. I was feeling lost without my work and took a job as a City Clerk. That was a job completely unfamiliar to me, but I was able to catch on quickly and re-organize the job as I had done so many times before.  I left the job and decided it was time to start my own business. I wanted to be able to share my skills with other small businesses and individuals doing what I love.
